The Seikan Tunnel Museum is in nearby Fukushima Town, between Kikonai and Matsumae. You can take the bus from Matsumae and get off at the Seikan Tunnel Kinenkan-mae bus stop (青函トンネル記念館前).

Seikan Tunnel Museum
Seikan Tunnel Museum (青函トンネル記念館, Seikan Tonneru Kinenkan) introduces visitors to one of Japan’s greatest engineering feats—the 54-kilometer-long Seikan Tunnel. This remarkable undersea rail tunnel connects Hokkaido Prefecture to Aomori Prefecture on Honshu and is both the longest and deepest tunnel of its kind in the world. The museum is designed to resemble a cross-section of the tunnel itself, giving a unique feel right from the entrance.
Inside, the exhibits showcase construction equipment, photographs, and detailed information about how the tunnel was built beneath the sea. Nearby, Fukushima Town also offers a few smaller attractions and serves as the northern gateway to the Seikan Tunnel, located just east of Cape Shirakami from Matsumae. It’s a fascinating stop for those curious about trains, tunnels, and impressive infrastructure.
