From Toyama Station, take bus 92 from stop #7 and get off at the Toyama Minzoku Mingei stop—it's a 10-minute ride and costs 260 yen. Buses run every 1–2 hours. You can also take tram line 2 or 5 to Daigaku-mae (15 minutes, 210 yen) or the JR Takayama Line to Nishi-Toyama Station (5 minutes, 190 yen), then walk 15–25 minutes to the folk village.

Toyama Municipal Folk Craft Village
Toyama Municipal Folk Craft Village (富山市民俗民芸村, Toyama-shi Minzoku Mingei Mura) is a hidden gem in the forested hills west of downtown Toyama City. This peaceful area is home to several small museums housed in traditional buildings, including rare gassho-zukuri and azuma-dachi farmhouses. Some of these old homes were relocated from rural Toyama and resemble those seen in the nearby Gokayama region. Each museum has a unique theme—ranging from folklore and farming to ceramic art and international culture. Right next to the village, visitors can also discover Chokeiji Temple and its 500 expressive rakan statues.
One highlight is the Museum of Medicine Peddlers, which tells the story of Toyama's history in traditional medicine during the Edo Period. Other attractions include the Folk Art Museum and Museum of Folklore, which showcase old tools, sewing machines, and farming gear. There's also the Museum of Ceramic Art and the Takamura Gyujin Memorial Art Museum, displaying both regional craftsmanship and local art. This village offers a calm and educational glimpse into Japan’s past.
